Coal tits, Squirrels and thorns

Took a dip into rural pastures this morning, taking advantage of the glorious conditions to splendour on my trek to the farm.

I know it’s difficult to believe, but I saw and photographed my first Coal tit today.
Plenty of other species around too on the trail, may book in another day off tomorrow, if the weather stays like this.

DIdn’t stay for brunch at the farm, although I was tempted by the smells wafting my way from the farmhouse, but I resisted knocking on the farmhouse kitchen door, and cooked my own once home.

Took a bike ride later on, and a long walk after tea. (how that info relates to nature I don’t know… I saw it… around… n stuff?)

Did see more than one of each species, in the photographs there is only the one.

Blue Skies, Sunshine and Deer

A Sky full of blue sky and pre-Sping sunshine persuaded my saunter today. Although I did have a walk penciled in for today anyway. Either that or the Gym, the latter can wait till tomorrow.

Anyways, had a bit of interesting company along the trail… The picture shows one of the deer present as I made my way back into suberbia.

The Fourth year…

4years of The Acorn Trail Blogging (last month! ahem.)

Just returned from a brisk jaunt to the farm and back, didn’t really see much, apart from the horses galloping about in the fields. Decided not to call them over this time, looked as if they were otherwise engaged in activities of the procreational kind.

Took a few snaps, nothing to write home about… Was without tripod today, current camera not too responsive without.

Horse-Chestnut loses out to brutal winds

A carpet of chestnuts strewn across the ground in every direction following brutal winds on my last trek.

A Pheasant crosses my path on the way to the farm.

Sparrow Fledglings

The returning fledgling Dunnock (previously seen on my window frames) seen at last, after 2 weeks of hearing only its song.
The returning fledgling Dunnock (Now seen (rarely) and not just heard) looks on wondering who these new arrivals are.
The new arrivals are a newly fledged brood of Sparrows from the one family in the courtyard and the first brood of Sparrow in the courtyard this year. I’ve counted 6 in the Brood, although this has been the only glimpse I’ve gotten of them. The Adult male has been working tirelessly at my window-feeder collecting seed for them (Video to follow shortly).
